Well, after a long time in transit (hideous full flight from San Francisco) I finally made it. The weather is great here (compared to San Francisco which was pretty cool 10-15 degrees and very windy), low to mid twenties and it was light until about 8.30 last night.
Was welcomed at the airport by my third cousin Jan. We then caught public transport (2 buses and a train) to where I will be based for the few weeks in his grandparents' flat in the suburbs of Prague 4. There is a "shiny new" (Jan's words) shopping centre very close by so went to Tesco to stock up on some groceries. There was already beer in the fridge so no worries on that front.
Had my first Pivo at a local pub which was full of smokers (in the non-smoking section). It was a dark Kozel, just for the record. Getting used to the smoking and the dogs again.
Today I made it by myself into the old town by public transport (about 25 mins) and here I am, about to go exploring... so far so good. The weekend is promising a trip to Prague Castle with Jan and his girlfriend Martina who is accredited as a tour guide for Prague (for the Deutsch girls - no, no, not that Martina) to see an exhibition and also maybe a day trip on Sunday with Jan and Martina again.
