Czech kids in the 'hood

Okay, so I was waiting for the bus this morning and there was a little boy at the bus stop with his mum, and he was surprisingly wearing sneakers, not surf sandals and socks like most kids (and lots of adults) here do and he was just wearing regular trousers and shirt, he was maybe four or so. Then this other little boy who was decidedly smaller comes scooting up (on a scooter - razor style, not motor) and this little cool cat is decked out in in sunglasses a cap, and has on little half riding gloves. The cat stops and says something to the regular kid, I think he asks his name because the kid goes all shy and hides behind his mum and says really quietly "Tomas". And his mum tries to push him around to talk to the cat but he doesn't want to.

Then the cat's mum turns up and they push on. Then the cat scoots on ahead 'til he gets to the road crossing where he waits for his mum who upon arrival at the crossing picks up the scooter and takes the cat by the hand to cross the road.

For fans of Alexander McCall Smith's Scotland Street Series it was a very "Bertie" meeting, especially re crossing the road. And on that note, I am making slow progress on "Love over Scotland"...
