If you’re a bit slow on the up-take or not local anymore you might not have heard that Toobs are Back. Yes, those barbecue-flavoured extruded snacks with the hole in the centre are back in stores. A tasty, tangy trip down memory lane back to primary school chip swapping. One for one was the deal for regular or flavoured crisps but when you were talking about something a bit more substantial (like a twistie or a toob or a cheetah) two plain for one fancy was to go. Since Toobs returned I have indulged once or twice, always remembering not to read the nutrition panel.
Keeping to the topic of tube-like snacks I bought box of Mini Cheezels yesterday. Then I started reading the box. To those unfamiliar, a Mini Cheezel tastes like a Cheezel and looks like a Cheezel but is a smaller version. They are cute, but they lack the fundamental element of Cheezels – wearability, specifically you can’t wear Mini Cheezel rings. Apparently you are meant to eat them, not play with them and so with that in mind those crzy genii at Arnotts have come up with the following fun Mini Cheezels recipes. I like my cheese powder either straight-up or with a side of Diet Coke.

Their favourite party food is “K-Neezels Sweet’n’Cheezels”. For an awesome flavour combo, thread Mini Cheezels onto a stretched snake lolly!
For another twisted flavour combo – thread Mini Cheezels onto skinny carrot and celery sticks, and for something really wocked and bizarre, try threading Mini Cheezels onto thin strips of licquorice. Taste tests are also underway with tiny dollops of ice-cream in the tiny holes AND dipping them into chocolate! Mmmmmmm.
